Congratulations to Sarah Axt on winning the 2025-26 Sheridan County Spelling Bee! She won this year’s competition with the word “coniferous”. Sarah and runner-up, Anna Axt, will be representing our county at the upcoming state bee. Great job to all who competed today. You should all be very proud! Thank you to Mrs. Netzloff and Mrs. Lipp for running the show, and to all of the parents and audience members who came to cheer the contestants on.

North Dakota author, RubyAnn Stiegelmeier, came to visit our elementary students on Tuesday. Thank you to the North Dakota State Library for making this possible!

The elementary students had fun celebrating Valentine's Day this year. How creative!

Today, our McClusky-Goodrich family had the joy of celebrating School Resource Officer Day with Deputy Thompson, and our hearts are full. Students and staff packed the elementary lunchroom with smiles, high-fives, and a lot of hugs! Deputy Thompson's calm presence, sense of humor, and genuine connection with kids make a difference far beyond any single moment, and it was special to see our students say "thank you" back to him today. We are deeply grateful for Deputy Thompson's commitment to building relationships, showing up for our students, and being a trusted adult in our halls and classrooms. Thank you, Deputy Thompson!

On February 17th, North Dakota author RubyAnn Stiegelmeier will be visiting the elementary school. Letters have been sent home with the elementary students and their families. If a family would like to pre-order one of her books, you can do so online and she will bring a signed copy when she arrives. Thank you to the ND State Library for this opportunity for our kiddos!

American Heart Association visited our school this morning and we have accepted the Kids Heart Challenge for grades PK-6. Students will be raising money to reach their goal. If they reach their goal, not only does the school receive money, but we will also have a staff race with blow-up costumes. Their challenge will go for the next two weeks. Stay tuned!

Congratulations to the January 2026 MGPS Dragons of the Month!

Mrs. Stober's 3rd graders are learning about motion, forces, and speed in science. They combined their knowledge of these and their recent research on Olympic events to create skiers that will stay upright while accelerating downhill. They tested them out indoors going down a ramp and then took them outside to the snow. Ask a third grader how their skier did!

Third graders teamed up with the juniors and seniors this week to research the invention of the light bulb and the telephone for an upcoming newspaper article the third graders will be writing.
