First Grade has done it again!
We are PIBLISHED AUTHORS!!
Since coming back from Christmas Break, we have been busy with rough drafts, editing, and lots of illustration practice.
This class decided that they wanted to write one cohesive story, and they blew me away with how well they did. My classes before chose a general topic and then picked different items to talk about within that topic, this is the first year we have had a setting, characters, and a plot!
They worked extremely hard throughout the whole process and showed some of their best writing.
I could not be prouder of them and the work they did to create this book!

The Kindergarten class has been learning about colonial farms and towns. They learned about the jobs of millers and bakers. They were extremely interested in the entire process of making bread, from planting the seed, making flour, and of course baking the bread. We decided that today would be a great day to bake some bread!
Some questions to ask your student:
What is the job of a miller and a baker?
How did we make the bread?
How do colonial farms and towns work together?

April's second "Mystery Reader" was the fabulous County Nurse, Kristi Jensen! Kristi is a familiar face at McClusky-Goodrich Elementary School. We are fortunate to have her services on Wednesday mornings and to have her lead some group lessons throughout the year! Thank you, Kristi!
